Explore origins and manufacturing locations in Airtable
A manufacturer wanted to understand the connections between raw materials, origins and manufacturing locations without relying solely on tables.
01
The starting point
The data was already in Airtable, but relationships between locations remained difficult to read. The challenge was to make supply chain dependencies visible.
02
My role
I built a mapping extension in Airtable with the help of Codex, using an existing base for managing raw material approval. I then worked on how connections were displayed, search and navigation.
03
The system
Search lets users select a material and see its related locations. Layers distinguish origins from manufacturing. Nearby markers cluster when zoomed out, then separate as the user zooms in.
04
The outcome
The interface lets users explore relationships visually and find a material. The documented version was published and checked in Airtable: search, selection and group navigation.
05
Limitations
The map makes the data readable; it does not certify coordinates or calculate customs risk. Locations that cannot be mapped are identified separately.
